Devices and diary

By feeding users with consistent and quality information with enriching contents, that meet their timely needs, a blogger generates a lot of traffic which is the most important of all goals of a professional blogger.

As beautiful as blogging experience may seem, bloggers, the professionals, and experts inclusive have the tendency to unconsciously drive users out of their blog site. Most of the common mistakes bloggers make fall under the category of “construction” or “conceptual” presentations of blog posts. If you’re a starter, you’re likely to be guilty of the two, while experts may fall within the conceptual category.

This post will give you an insight and a shift to becoming a more successful blogger.

1. Poor Presentation of Ideas or Writings

The first and most common mistake novice and experienced bloggers make is bombarding readers with a large quantity of information with no quality. Poorly written articles, messages or posts, that do not portray professionalism are junks and become boring for readers to digest.

Bloggers (both the new and experienced ones) oftentimes do not take their time to critically and professionally analyze their messages or writings because of the hurriedness to get it across to readers. It may be a good help, in delivering readers with good looking blog posts, using efficient minimal word processor software like Write! which is excellent for writers and bloggers. It provides a performance-enhancing writing without getting you distracted.

2. Choosing Boring Niche or Having too Many Focuses

Let’s admit: one of the main goals of blogging is to make money. Bloggers are pissed off when they have a low turn up to their blog. They realize that users come once and never show up again.

The common big mistake they make here is trying to be everything for everyone. Some expert bloggers try to create an atmosphere for every reader, thereby having diverse of focus. When you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing nobody.

A survey to know the opinions of readers on what they want will help to strengthen the focus of bloggers. Having a clearly defined mission and focus area makes you much more likely to gain a strong and passionate following that’s incredibly valuable. It gives your readers a chance to know what they expecting from you. Being passionate and excited about whatever it is you’re blogging really presents itself in your writing.

Tip

Run a survey using Google Forms, Typeform, or LeadQuizzes. These free services will help you to understand your readers and what they expect from your blog.

3. Inconsistency in Quality and Frequency of Publications

This is one of the greatest factors of an unsuccessful blog, both in publication frequency and quality. Imagine how annoying and disappointing it is to visit your favorite blog site after a week and all you could read on your screen is the same old outdated post or news you saw weeks ago.

Ensure quality content on a regular basis by simply adhering to a publishing schedule. Base your blogging on routine, not on whenever the muse comes to visit.

Tip

Set up an editorial calendar using Trello, Asana, CoSchedule, or just good old Google Calendar.

4. Plagiarism

Plagiarism applies to all write-ups and publications. If it doesn’t work for author’s book, then certainly it doesn’t have to work on your blog.

But for some reason, many starters and experienced bloggers always love to use the catch-it-quick approach to copy contents already made available on someone’s blog. You might be unlucky to have readers on your blog that have seen the stolen contents on some other blogs before. This idea will give them the kind of ideal that all your posts are somewhat someone else’s work. And guess what? They are long gone from your site because they have no trust in you again.

Bloggers should use original and authentic contents that are well researched should appear on their blogs.

Tip

Learn how to cite other people’s content instead of stealing it, and use Grammarly Plagiarism Checker to make sure your content is free of plagiarism.

5. Taking too Many Advertisement

All bloggers want to make money. As we already mentioned, that’s one of the primary aims of blogging. Bloggers make quite a lot of their money from advertising products and services for other companies on their websites. It’s is proper to have a reasonable number of advertising spaces.

Some experienced bloggers and some other new entrants want to make so much money that they have so many advertising spaces on their blog site. If there are too many advertisement spaces on a blog, it sometimes irritates readers and may force them to press the close button. Visitors have come for your blog posts and not advertisement pages, therefore, blog posts should occupy a larger space on your blog.

6. Having a Missing Space for Comments

Comments are a great measure of customers’ blogging experience. For whatever reasons, some bloggers scrap this out. They run blogs where users’ experiences and comments are not allowed.

Customers always want to communicate with the blogger. This can help improve the service provided and give insights into future posts. Bloggers should, therefore, create comment spaces in their blogs to facilitate users-to-users and users-to-owner communications.
